This is useful for pages that are outdated, contain sensitive info, or are still being built. Here’s how you can do it:

Step 1: Install GSCTool Extension

Step 2: Access the Block URLs Tool

  • Go to the Bing Webmaster dashboard.

Step 3: Prepare a CSV Template

Prepare a CSV file with the URLs you wish to remove. The format should be one URL per line. The CSV should look like this:

URL
https://www.example.com/page1
https://www.example.com/page2
https://www.example.com/page3

To go to the "Manage URLs" page, click on "Import CSV".

Upload your CSV file.

Step 4: Start the URL Removal Process

  1. Return to the "Block URLs" page and hit the refresh button to see your stats.

  2. Click on "Start" to initiate the bulk URL removal process.

Additional Tips

  • Consider Using robots.txt or Meta Tags: To prevent specific URLs from being crawled by Bing, you may use the robots.txt file. Alternatively, adding meta tags like <meta name="robots" content="noindex"> to your pages can stop them from being indexed.

  • Important Note: Deleting URLs from Bing Webmaster Tool doesn't actually remove these pages from your website. Instead, it just stops them from showing up in Bing's search results for a while. Think about whether you need to remove them permanently or if hiding them temporarily is enough.

This guide helps you keep your website's content up-to-date and private on Bing search results.

FAQs

Q: How long does the URL removal process take? A: The process is usually quick, but it can take up to 48 hours for a URL to be removed from Bing's search results.

Q: Will the URLs be permanently removed from Bing's search index? A: No, using the URL removal tool in Bing Webmaster Tools removes URLs temporarily for about 90 days.

Q: Can I re-index a URL after it's been removed? A: Yes, you can request re-indexing by submitting the URL again through Bing Webmaster Tools or by ensuring the page is crawlable and not blocked by robots.txt or meta tags.

Q: What happens if I don't use robots.txt or meta tags correctly? A: Incorrect use of robots.txt or meta tags could lead to unintended indexing or non-indexing of your web pages, affecting your site's visibility on Bing search.

Q: Can I remove multiple URLs at once? A: Yes, GSCTool Extension Bing Webmaster Tools allows for the bulk removal of URLs, but you must ensure each URL you wish to remove is listed and follows the format guidelines provided by GSCTool.
